How the Vaccine Works
Vaccines, in general, help our bodies develop an immune response to a certain virus if ever encountered in the future. There are different ways vaccines can help your body generate this immune response, but the overall result is that your immune system's memory T and B cells will know how to combat the virus in the future so your body can stay healthy.
The new COVID-19 vaccines use a new type of technology where instead of injecting a weaker version of the virus, like other vaccines, they inject mRNA. This mRNA tells our cells to create certain proteins that will trigger our immune system to build an immune response. This will protect our body from COVID-19 without contracting the virus itself.
